Testing
IBM THINKPAD 570E + SONY ICF2001D or SANGEAN ATS909
Today's
findings:
-
Use the external antenna with coaxial cable
for Sony or Sangean.
-
Do not use Sangean's power supply; prefer batteries.
-
Always position PC charger on the side opposite to the
receiver.
-
Avoid using another computer in the room...
-
For a demo (...), operate computer on its battery
(well for the time if will last)
-
Otherwise, start with charger and fully charged battery
(charger is noisier if battery is discharged)
-
Well with the above, the Sony ICF2001D and the Sangean ATS909
can give some good results when signals are strong.
Today's tests:
New
: Using external antenna (2x 7m dipole)
with
coaxial cable ended with metal jack
connected
directly to the Sony or Sangean.
Results
are much better than previously.
Note
about Sangean ATS909: I always have to
key
Freq + 5kHz to have correct freq. Ie to
listen
to 6095, Sangean display has to show 6100.
Don't
know why.
